Special Delivery (New)

It was on March 27th that I got the ball rolling on this.  This was supposed to be my "Blues" CD, only in the respect that all songs were going to be I-IV-V chord progressions.  I can't do straight Blues, nor would I pretend to.  One day I'll write a blurb out about my Blues influences, but they'd be influences.  I have problems with what's referred to as Blues anymore.  If I see another guy whose name is Blind Dog Voodoo Texan and dresses like a cowboy, I'll puke.  Blues is too deep for that, and too deep for me. The difference is I know that.  Also, If I look back on my life, as a whole, I really have nothing to complain about.  Too lucky to have the Blues, maybe?  I couldn't stick with the Blues thing too long before going back to my usual schtick.

Plays Elvis

I wanted to do this for a couple of years and on February 26th, I finally started it.  All 15 songs had a basic track using the 56 Junior and the Yamaha keyboard's drum patterns.  Then, in the same day, I got all the bass tracks done using just the EB-3.  All songs got an acoustic guitar track (technically 2) on the 28th.  All acoustics were the Ovation.  I planned on using the Baby and Resonator but that never happened.  March 1st, I got all my drum tracks done.  Most of the rhythm guitar tracks were redone with the SG3 on the 3rd and also all the slide guitars.  I used the Special for slide.  After hearing the guitar sound, the Special is officially my slide guitar.  Also, all electric guitars went in direct using the SansAmp.  March 6th got all the vocals done in the morning and at night, all the percussion parts were recorded.  On the 7th, the remaining guitar bits were recorded using the Studio Plus.  On the 8th, I just put some icing on the cake by adding a few "Leslie" guitars with the Line 6 Roto Machine pedal to some songs and that was it.

Grows On You

This CD started out as a "I need some new songs to try the drum kit out with".  Unfortunately, there's only 3 new songs, "Now Showing", "Grow On You", "Stiff Competition".  All the rest are oldies but rerecorded.  "Consenting Adult" was first recorded back in 1999; "Pop and Chips", "Warm Front" and "Taking Off" were originally done back in 2001; and "Combinations and Permutations" is one of the first songs I've ever recorded - it's about 20 years old.  "Pictures Again" and "Come and Go Again" are from 2007.

Gets Scared

This one all started back in September when I thought it'd be a neat idea to make some Hallowe'en-y songs for October's webpage updates.  At that time I only had two ideas: Want Me For My Brains that was me being pseudo-cocky but it was really about Zombies, and Piece At A Time where I build the perfect girl - Frankenstein-style.  Kinda funny.  Also, the key theme here was "don't spend too much time on stuff.  It's supposed to be fun, not perfect". Remembering that helped a lot.

Blind Date

This whole CD started out to be an instrumental CD that was supposed to pass the time until the Spring.  What else is there to do when it's cold and crummy out?  I thought that'd be easy to make since it bypasses the longest part - making the words.  But that didn't happen.  Maybe it's habit, but the songs lent themselves to the typical verse/chorus/verse.  I ended up using 4 of the then-instrumentals and started a follow-up to Drives It Home.
