How It's Done
(or I'm Long Winded)

You probably know someone who does this kind of thing too. Home Recording.  It sounds pretty fancy and that's what this whole site is about, really.  Not being fancy but about home recording.  Actually, it used to be about 4-track recording until I recently purchased a 24 track.  Anyway, I have not a clue if I'm doing it properly but I'm pretty happy with the results I get.

I try and make 2 -3 "albums" a year - 1 per season kinda thing.  I look on the calendar and see when I'm not playing too much on the weekends and start figuring out when I'm going to do what.

If I could pick one thing to do for the rest of my life, this would probably be it.

I thought I’d get organised a little bit for the “How It’s Done” section.  4-track recording is the whole reason for this site.  Anyways, I figured if I broke it down into sections then it’d be easier to type since I wouldn’t have to type it all out at once.  It is a pretty big process, but after years of doing this, it doesn’t feel like much.  Heck, I don’t even get frustrated if something doesn’t go right – it’s too much fun.  What I was after and still after, for the finished product, is to make it sound like a band playing in a small room.

And, why am I writing so much about 4-track recording?  Nobody else does.  Someone’s got to do it – I don’t mind actually.

So here’s the order of how things get done:
What I Used To Do
What Gets Used
Figuring Out When To Start Recording Something New
Sitting Down to Record
Making Up The Words
Guitar Solos

Mixing Editing and Eq-ing
Making The Covers
