These are real letters and I would like to thank everyone for sending them in. I honestly never thought I'd get any when I first started doing this. Thanks to you guys who submitted me comments about my list about the Rolling Stone 100 Guitar players thing too. |

| what
is your problem Joe Perry should be on the top 100 he is better then
Angus, Hendrix, Robert Johnson, Duane, Chuck Barry, Edge, and your little
T.Bone Walker!
Hellsbells0@aol.com |
This
came with the delightful Subject of "Joe Perry is amazing you
dick".
Once I saw the e-mail address was an AOL one, it made sense. When you get your own website, then you can put Joe Perry at the top of your list. And, no, he's not better than those guys you listed. You don't play guitar, do you? |
| Really
enjoyed your take on the silly Rolling Stone top 100 guitarists. Must say
I agreed with most of your comments. If you like Django check out a young
gypsy guitarist named Jimmy Rosenberg. He had a band named Sinti about 10
years ago and the playing is really amazing, especially as he was only
about 15 or 16 at the time. I know that Sinti released one CD and it's
probably not too hard to get hold of.
Wonder why Eric Johnson never made the list -Rob |
I forgot about Eric Johnson too. |
| I
enjoyed that very much - obviously they weren't including jazz guys which
would explain many of the glaring omissions you pointed out - also saw
George Benson live without his whole ensemble - just a quartet w/ Herbie
Hancock, Ron Carter, and Tony Williams - the guy was unbelievable, and
influenced a generation of guitarists (yes, he was influenced by Wes) - I
think you also forgot Larry Coryell, and Allan Holdsworth -actually,
there's a lot more less well-known guys out there (Joe Pass, Kazumi
Watanabe, Philip Catherine, Bireli Lagrene, Al Dimeola, Paco DeLucia) that
I've seen who are incredible as well.
-Berkley D. Johnson |
He's
a big Steve Morse fan too.
When I asked him how he got to my list, he said he typed in "Rolling Stone Top 100 Guitarist" and my page came up in the listings. I always thought you had to pay for your listing on MSN. |
| Hey Gregg, happy birthday. Just wanted you to consider dressing as the pope for your picture. It may get you out of some tricky situations. I agree with you about that Rolling Stone article. I think some of these a-holes just print things to piss people off. I think Maxim or someone had a 'worst band' list a little while ago. It also was way off the mark. I don't know where they find these people, but at least our generation knows better than that jackass responsible for the Rolling Stone list. I just feel sorry for the new school of musicians. Not only has the industry fallen apart and become pathetic, but now you have kids following the advice of these morons on who the best guitar players of all time are. Sad, sad, sad. Life is a garden, dig it!!! Ray | Thank
you for the Birthday wish.
I'm sorry to say about the Pope. He came in second place. |
| Gregg,
June's picks are great. Why are you so tough on Stevie Nicks? Fleetwood would have lost out on alot of material if not for Stevie. I like Lindsey but Lindsey is kind of fem. K |
Dear
K,
I don't mind Stevie, she doesn't have any talent in comparison to Lindsey. Lindsey's not fem - it's how the camera catches him. |
| I
must say, it's great to be checkin' out the newest nonsense every month on
your web site. It's great to be alone at
work at four in the morning busting stitches
in my side. I love the golfing images, especially the second
picture. Also, nice touch on
mentioning birthdays. I
don't think you missed anyone.
I gotta go, see ya The hog ridin' fool

Dear
Fan
You must be psychic. |
| Hey Koval, good job this month. Informative, yet entertaining, as usual. You look right @ home as cupid. (I don't know what that is supposed to mean either) Anyway, you mentioned Valentine's day, President's day, etc. but you neglected to mention Fat Tuesday. Maybe you could include it next year. Just a little note to help with the "filler" (get it?) on your site. Keep up the good work. ps--you mentioned that you knew someone who had a birthday this month and you wished them a happy B-day. Thanx, and thank Paul for the Line 6 Bass Pod. That was my gift to myself, though I haven't paid him for it yet. Should I??? Hey maybe you could have a dilema column? I don't even know if you have one. You could call it Dear Kovy or something.Take care. Ray www.flange.org | Choo
da man.
Ah, yes, Fat Tuesday or Shrove Tuesday. I didn't even get to have any potato pancakes either. Those things are great. |
| Happy
New Year. I love it when the Leafs fall apart after Christmas. It fills me
with such joy to see them loose twice to Atlanta. We're going to do so
good if we make the play-offs (sarcasm). I've been listening to Always
Tasty and I think it's great .. it's solid and rocks. I can't get enough
of Checkin' In. Hell, all the tunes are great. You should do all future
recordings in the living room on a whim. Take it easy and ... Go Bruins!
Jeff |
Hee hee. You like the other ones at all? |
| Hi Gregg, We think it is cool that Mrs. Lovell knows someone famous. We saw your web page. We liked all your guitars. We wonder if you could send us one of your CDs. We will take good care of it. Love, Grade 1 St. Theresa School | So I did. This kind of thing makes you feel good. Read the next one below. |
| Dear
Gregg, We loved your C.D. We have played all the songs and did a survey in
math. Most people like the first song the best. It is called "Takin'
Off". We have lots of questions for you. How can you play the drums
and the guitar at the same time? Who made the cover on the C.D.? How do
you make the C.D.? How did you make your voice go different in the second
song? Can you tell us the words to the first song so that we can sing with
you?
We can't wait to hear from you. Grade 1 I wish you could have seen their reaction as I put the C.D. on (as loud as it would go). It was priceless! They sat with open mouths for ages. Slowly they began to look at each other but nobody made a move. When I began to move, they let go - the air guitars were rocking. I had them get up and dance and that was hysterical! I asked why they liked the songs so much and they all agreed that it was the strong beat that they liked the best. Take care. Dianna

for writing That's such a cool name too. I took your advice
and I did put up "Busted" there. Everybody else can get
there if they click
here.
I like these kinds of letter, they make me feel good. Thanks again. |
| Gregg,
I placed your song "I don't want to go to work" at a station here: http://stations.mp3s.com/stations/148/mp3_play_sampler_rock-n-bl.html I actually liked "The Great Outdoors" better but felt it was best to place the shorter song in hopes that everybody on the station will play it more often if the station plays quickly. Good luck at mp3.com. DJ |
That's right on! Thanks. That's very, very cool. |
| Hi
Gregg,
I'm requesting that you put the hit song "Esther's in Town" back on your web site. That tune is (as they say down south) "da bomb"Paul |
O.K.
Click here (and a few other spots on the site) - Contest Winner #2! |
| >
Hi Gregg,
> Maybe I wasn't listening before, but the audio thing at each new page is great. It really makes the site come alive.> Say, you have pictures of yourself on the site and nude pictures of your guitars on the site, but no nude pictures of you? What gives?> just wondering, > jeff S.,
|
It's
true. If you listen (and it's cached) you can hear Yours Truly
saying such complex and diverse things like: "News and Letters",
"Search and Link" and "Yeah, Yeah".
Now for the second part of your letter - nobody would give if they saw me nude. When I die, they'll donate my body to Science Fiction. But the nude guitars are pretty hot, eh? Congratulations on winning the contest! |
| Hi
Gregg, Just wanted to let you know that I think your web site is great! Very informative and laid out in a way that us "non computer users" can navigate through it easily. I also enjoy the PTM band schedule. Its informative too. Paul |
Non
computer user? Don't tell your boss that.
You can see Paul on this page. He's the one playing bass. |
