Note: Below is not a Bio for/of the band.

A long, long, long, long, long time ago I was lucky enough to join The Powdered Toastmen.  For a couple of years before that I was always playing with guys with at least 10 years on me in really bad bars.  Actually, that was good training: if the older guys like your playing then you're on the right track.  But to finally play with guys who were really good and in and around my own age (I'm still the youngest guy though) and to play to an audience with real girls was a real treat in comparison.  Just between you and me, I like girls with all their teeth.

That was in 1995.  And now in 2008 (with a little hiatus in 2004), we're way better than we were 13 years ago.

My friend Steve and then-bass-player got me in the band when their guitar player left for some reason that I can't remember now.  Anyways, when I started with them it was almost 2 bands.  One was when we were billed as The Powdered Toastmen and that would be a bunch of variety Rock/Top 40 stuff: Gin Blossoms, Pearl Jam, etc.  The other half-of-the-time was when we were billed as The Hip Mission: a Tragically Hip tribute band.  If you're not Canadian, you'll say "who?".

From there Steve left because he didn't like how things were going and we ended up getting a guy named Gary Komsic in next.  He didn't last that long with us but still, a really nice guy.  And Gary's still at it.  He moved out of town but here's his website....

Next change was Craig Maclachlan.  A super funny guy and a great bass player.  I think he lasted a couple of years.

Not that we have a huge problem with bass players but Craig left around the end of 1997.  I think we might have had two or three months off that seemed like forever.  In the Spring we brought in Paul Pesce, at my suggestion, to play bass and Paul ended up staying for 9 years.

Also, I think it was sort of my fault going a little more blues-ish orientated.  We started learning ZZ Top and Rolling Stones songs instead of maybe the latest Top 40 song.  I like that.  So we rode that out until we took a little break for about a year.

That was a long year; I almost joined another band but thankfully we got back together and dropped the Top-40 music altogether.  The thought of playing a Creed song gives me acid reflux.

Unfortunately, Paul had to leave the band in 2006 and Rob Filipov took up the empty seat up until 2009 when the seat became vacant again.  Al Funaro is now officially the Bass Player with vocal duties too.  Nice.

And that brings us to now.   I'm allowed a huge amount of freedom in playing with the band, and thankful for it.  I can't think of a better group of guys to be with.
